The Victorian government has recently engaged with Chinese state-owned train building company CRRC which has been blacklisted by the US and found to have ties with Uighur Muslim exploitation. Premier Daniel Andrews has denied knowing the human rights abuses linked with the corporation claiming it had assurances from CRRC that it does not benefit from slave labour from exploited Uighurs.
“I don’t do national security reviews,” Premier Andrews said. “No one’s raised any questions about this company with us, if that were to change, then we would take appropriate action,” he continued.
