Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced Saturday that the full Senate will not return until Oct. 19 — two weeks later than planned — but he also vowed that it would still move ahead with Amy Coney Barrett's Supreme Court nomination

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced Saturday that the full Senate will not return until Oct. 19 — two weeks later than planned — after three GOP senators tested positive for the coronavirus.

Still, the growing infection in the GOP ranks could be a problem. Three Republican senators announced positive coronavirus diagnoses in the past 24 hours, including one, Sen. Ron Johnson on Saturday morning. Two more GOP senators have said they are quarantining, which significantly narrows the GOP 53-member majority.

McConnell’s announcement comes on a chaotic Saturday in Washington, as several more members of President Donald Trump’s inner circle disclosed that they have tested positive, including his campaign manager Bill Stepien and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. Both had attended last weekend’s Rose Garden ceremony where Trump formally announced Barrett's nomination, which drew high-profile guests, including many GOP senators.

The Judiciary Committee is scheduled to begin four days of hearings for Barrett on Oct. 12, with Graham planning to hold a committee vote on Oct. 22.

WTF mcturtle, get a clue... this will be great for his pipularity

Guess because they don't have the votes now. Three or more are corona thanks to Trump.

Dem pick: 9 months = can't be done, Rep pick: 2 weeks = no problem.

Ostrich mentality

well ya'll can get ready to say farewell to Mitch he will not be reelected!!!

Not if it’s shut down they won’t!

Yet he will push thru this judge, regardless of president in hospital and so many republican senators sick with the disease they denied. Push thru a denier judge, America will be a worse place for decades.

Vulnerable Republicans back Senate Democrats' bill opposing Obamacare lawsuitSenate Democrats' largely symbolic bid to cut off the Trump administration's support for a Supreme Court challenge to Obamacare failed as expected Thursday, but several Republicans facing tough reelections crossed party lines to back the measure Democrats need to explain where federal funds over the years were not used to help improve impoverished conditions in major cities that breed outrageous crimes if they want to appear as honest and trustworthy leaders who will do better if elected. Screw these losers. Trump can still be a great president even with a Dem senate. If Supreme Court Justices have any integrity at all they won't trash Obamacare just because Trump hates Barack Obama.

Senate panel approves sending subpoenas to CEOs of Twitter, Facebook, GoogleThe U.S. Senate Commerce Committee on Thursday unanimously voted to approve a plan to subpoena chief executives of Twitter, Alphabet's Google and Facebook for a hearing likely to be held before the election on a prized legal immunity enjoyed by internet companies. GOOD. About f*n time. ok rally october coming , NASDAQ FLY It makes zero sense to hold social media companies accountable for what users post. In not practical to expect social media companies to monitor the millions of posts on their sites on a daily basis. As if freedom of speech isn't already under threat online.
