A 140-page transcript released by the Judicial Council a day after the publication of the Denham Review details a question and answer session between Supreme Court judge Seamus Woulfe and the former Chief Justice Susan Denham.

The transcript shows how Judge Seamus Woulfe's senior counsel cautioned against allowing a "populist view" to inform the opinion of former Ms Justice Susan Denham in her review of his attendance at the golf dinner at the Station House Hotel. He said judges were "not in the popularity business because they are not elected", adding that judges were in a totally different position with huge constitutional dimensions.

He said the media and politicians did not know the facts and showed no interest in knowing them. He said he did not regard himself as part of an elite that is above the guidelines as had been described in the media. Asked by Ms Justice Denham if he had no sense that people were concerned and refusing to go to the dinner he replied: "Zero. Zero sense."

The transcript also shows how Mr Justice Woulfe said there was nothing he had learned since to suggest the golf event was anything other than a purely social and recreational event similar to the annual Bar Council chairman's dinner where judges and politicians mix socially. He said he was trying to rack his brain and wondered if there was something he had missed. He said he could not think of any breaches by him, except he said that he "maybe didn't social distance a hundred per cent perfectly all through the night".

TrumanKelly Anyone investigating Brian Hayes

TrumanKelly your intellect gets you a position of trusted judgement an appointment to the high office of our courts.. and you can leave that assumed intellect in the locker room of a golf day out at the height of a pandemic that has killed 100s of your compatriots .. time to be honest ?

Blaming Everyone Else ! Nothing to see here ! Move On. 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😉

He just misjudged ironically enough.

He has a good name now alright, the man that removed the credibility and integrity of the supreme court.

Orlaodo There are thousand of current & former prisoners who, with the benefit of hindsight, would not have inflicted an unjust attack on their good names or on their family, friends and colleagues, that being jailed by a judge brings. Grandiose self entitlement going on here. Woulfe

Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior. “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” - John 8:12 I recommend the following video:

Arrogance is only what I hear

🇮🇪🦊

His KKK comments were exceptionally distasteful. Hard to comprehend how people could have confidence in his ability to carry out his role if that is how his reasoning works. Another person in his situation would have resigned.

ingridmileyRTE Let's examine the evidence

No prejudging here. Judgement however, on the arrogance of the man. The assumption that he is above reproach. And the ridiculous statement that he didn’t know about the partition and the second half of the room because he was tired and a bit pissed. WoulfeMustGo

Susan Denham, along with Seamus Woulfe, should not be a Judge. How anyone could listen to this spoilt child point fingers at everyone, question why he had to apologise, give endless BS excuses, paint himself as a victim (KKK?) and STILL let him off? Judiciary is compromised.

A liar and a fraudster. No integrity, no honesty and no ability to judge a situation he himself regulated for. Mixed in with all the regular entitlement of an FFG appointment.

The transcript certainly does not disclose a judicial, measured and objective temperament.

Woulfe resignation would be unjust and disproportionate, Denham report concludesResignation of Supreme Court judge Séamus Woulfe over Clifden golf event would be disproportionate, Denham report concludes And what would be proportionate? In this finding, Golfgate has tarnished another judge. It was probably better if there was no report. Two disgraced judges now. Outrageous. Judges breaking the law not a resigning matter. Why should the rest of us be bothered?

Golfgate: Woulfe resignation from Supreme Court would be 'unjust and disproportionate' - Denham reportHe will not be stepping down from his position. In this together they said. Ya right. More like ' Them' and the 'rest of us ' 😥 2 fingers to the public to be told hes fit to sit in judgement of others when he couldn't see the wrongdoing he was engaged in. But the old guard always look after their own. Let the public decide it by a vote.
