BuCor hasn’t received court order on ‘good conduct’ review

Atty. Virgina Suarez, legal counsel of the family of slain transgender Jennifer Laude, said on Monday that the Olongapo City RTC Branch 74 has ordered the BuCor to update its computation to ensure that Pemberton can be released under the GCTA.

Suarez had earlier argued that there was no reason that the court should reduce Pemberton’s sentence by giving him GCTA credits In a statement sent on Monday by BuCor Spokesperson Gabriel Chaclag, it said that it has not yet received a copy of a court order from the RTC Branch 74 of Olongapo City requiring an update of its presumptive computation.

BuCor said it will submit its comment accordingly if required by the court as had been regularly done in the past. In December 2015, Pemberton was convicted of homicide for the killing of Jennifer and was sentenced to imprisonment ranging from six to 12 years, which was reduced by the court to a maximum of 10 years in 2016.
