Mbalula said government is working towards introducing a new bill pushing for a zero percent alcohol level for all motorists. Layton Beard from the AA said they are concerned about the fact that people who use medication that may contain alcohol may not drive."We are of the view that road safety needs an overall approach. Just focusing on this will not deal with the national disaster," Beard said.

"So we have serious concerns about dropping it zero. We would like to see a zero-tolerance rather than blood alcohol concentration level dropping to zero percent." The Automobile Association is against a push for setting a zero percent alcohol level for motorists. The association says amending laws will not deal with the problem.
