SEREMBAN: A 57-year-old government polytechnic director claimed trial at the Sessions Court here to seven charges of allegedly using his position to award programmes to four companies and for accepting bribes.

Politeknik Nilai director Nazri Idris pleaded not guilty after the charges were read to him before judge Madihah Harullah.

For the second and fourth charges, he appointed two other companies to supply equipment and spare parts for programmes worth RM28,725. Offenders can be imprisoned up to 20 years and fined not less than five times the amount of the gratification or RM10,000, whichever is higher, upon conviction. He was also charged with receiving another RM8,000 at his office on Dec 12,2018, and another RM3,000 also via a cash transfer from the same company at a bank in Shah Alam on Jan 28,2019.
