I'm "conservative" on punishment in cases exhibiting extreme cruelty on top of it being a "violent crime". Sadly in a liberal leaning law system like Canada's-Killing a person seems to be an advantage - they're now gone,so you can be rehabilitated in X years,with doing X,Y or Z.
