A District Court judge has jailed two men for their first-ever criminal offence and given a stern warning that if South Australians "take the very serious step" from drug user to supplier they will end up with a stint behind bars.
Perks was sentenced to two years and 11 months jail with a "merciful" non-parole period of 15 months, while Harry was given two years and five months with a non-parole period of 12 months.Young people 'unaware' of drug-dealing risks Harry was 18 when he was busted by police trafficking MDMA after being refused entry to the Dog and Duck hotel, on Hindley Street, in May 2020.Judge McEwen accepted that his primary motivation for trafficking drugs was not financial, but to support his own cocaine habit and boost his self-esteem.
Perks, who had no criminal history, pleaded guilty to trafficking a large commercial quantity of cannabis, which has a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
Just legalise it. Look at the financial & social benefits in legal locations. SA could actually have a strong, standalone economy.
that judge needs to go to jail
Time for government thugs to leave adults alone to be able to grow and use a plant if they want to.
Just legalise it FFS. Cigs and Alcohol kill people daily so if it was the health reason its banned these would also be banned. It’s that sweet tax revenue they are addicted to. 45% of a carton of beer is tax. It’s BS auspol
This is stupid
That Judge gets ironic what an old twaddle
Well done judge.
