NSW Minister for Families, Communities and Disabilities Gareth Ward says he supports the protection of threatened and endangered species in national parks, in light of the recent debate over the culling of brumbies in Kosciuszko National Park.

NSW Environment and Energy Minister Matt Kean is wanting to cull brumbies from Kosciuszko National Park through a removal program. New South Wales Deputy Premier John Barilaro is asking instead for a new count of the brumby population in the park, considering the massive fires which swept through the region during the summer.
