'These inmates had no obligation whatsoever to render aid to a bleeding, vulnerable deputy, but they didn't hesitate.'

The deputy lay unconscious on the jail floor, passed out from a medical emergency. His head had split open and he was bleeding.

What happened next has prompted a Georgia sheriff's office to offer an unusual public thank you to three incarcerated individuals for their actions. Inmates behind bars saw what was going on and began making booming noises — banging on their cells, shouting the fallen officer's name.Confused and thinking perhaps the inmates — not himself — were in distress, he stood up and hit a control that open the cells.They used his phone and radio to ask for help, which quickly arrived.that has since gained national attention.

"These inmates had no obligation whatsoever to render aid to a bleeding, vulnerable deputy, but they didn't hesitate," the post reads.

it is a deficiency of American law. there is no offense for 'not assisting a person in danger'.

The people in jail aren’t even convicted in many cases. Why is it shocking that the prisoners render aid? Oh because the police don’t.

How bizarre that USA Today and their reporter seem to think inmate equals psychopath or something. You do realize the vast vast majority of people in jail are non violent offenders right? Dads with a DWI or unpaid court costs.

You don't need to escape prison if you can get early release
