Economic downturn occasioned by the global COVID-19 pandemic led to the changes in the year’s budgets so that governments could embark on more realistic implementation.

Many governors on Wednesday signed revised 2020 budgets into law.

Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi signed N146,374,641,080.00 into law as against the earlier approved budget of N169,557,658,300.00.In Plateau State, Governor Simon Lalong signed N122,848,822,913.00 into law to replace the initial N177,340,521,174.00 budget.He said: “For us as a state, the impact has been huge as our earnings have drastically fallen, even in the face of demands for funds to carry out statutory responsibilities and also respond to the challenges of the corona virus pandemic.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Mohammed had signed a N167.2 billion Appropriated Bill before the outbreak of COVID-19.
