Pro-democracy campaigner Benny Tai was fired from his job as an associate law professor at the University of Hong Kong

Mr. Tai is an advocate of civil disobedience who was sentenced to jail last year for public-nuisance offenses related to his involvement in a 79-day street occupation that paralyzed parts of Hong Kong in 2014.

He said his ouster would mark the end of staff members at universities in the city...

Normal...many examples of universities in europe firing academics for criticising israel...and so called prominent figures..this guy broke the laws and undermined HK authorities as well as set up parallel voting systems...why would he not be fired...
