What’s the problem? Any of us could, AND WOULD, have tried to avoid the penalty if the authorities had invalidated the correct process. If Beckham had decided to pay a lawyer to do this work for him that’s his choice. The law is the same for any of us.

What does how much Beckham paid his lawyer have to do with it? The prosecution made a cock up, they didn't ensure delivery of statutory notice required by law to the defendant within the prescribed(by Parliament) period, end of case. Better luck next time !!

I don't have a problem with a lawyer being paid a lot to highlight stupidities in British law if it results in the government changing them. If the law is left unchanged, then yes, that is problematic as it implies you need to pay big bucks for someone to spot them.
And David Beckham is angry he hasn’t been given a knighthood? Sounds to me like the people who rejected his knighthood were pretty sound judges of character.

This is unfair. The technical bit was simply timeframe and many people, even poor ones, have "Got off" with charges due to lazy prosecutioners. Even I did once.
There's no point having a go at the lawyer for doing his job. All criticism should go to the multimillionaire Beckham for avoiding a paltry £60 and 3 points on his license. Shame on him.
