WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump said Tuesday he signed into law a bipartisan bill that sanctions Chinese officials whoto free speech and assembly in Hong Kong, the latest escalation in an increasingly hostile relationship between Washington and Beijing.
"This law gives my administration powerful new tools to hold responsible the individuals and the entities involved in extinguishing Hong Kong’s freedom," Trump said at a press conference in the Rose Garden Tuesday evening. "We’ve all watched what happened, not a good situation.
"Hong Kong will now be treated the same as mainland China — no special privileges, no special economic treatment, and no export of sensitive technologies," Trump said.in June that restricts free speech in Hong Kong, undermining the"one country, two systems" policy agreed between Britain and China in 1997 during the handover of the territory, which allowed Hong Kong to adopt a political system separate to the mainland.
A most welcomed escalation. China has done enough to wreck the world, someone has to stand up to its totalitarian rule. ChinaLiedPeopleDied ChinaMustPay
That was a Nancy Pelosi Bill - probably not a good idea ?
Kind of ironic because Trump doesn’t like freedom of speech or assembly in this country!!
Boycott them all.

...umm, Democrats introduced this bill.
No idea what to think about his ever changing stance with China...I mean they hold our debt and his daughter is as beholding to them for trademarks for her cheaply made products...His relationship to China is more mysterious than his relationship to Russia.
Presidents that are involved in, or in Trumps case start wars, typically get reelected.
Too bad he didn’t say anything 15 months ago when this could have been prevented.
He needn't an excuse for lack of a trade deal with China.
