that the cases should be sent back to the lower court, which will have to consider separation of powers and apply a new four-part test laid out by the Supreme Court to determine whether House committees have a legal right to the sitting president’s personal documents., House attorney Douglas Letter urged the court to help House Democrats move forward with the case as swiftly as possible by having the ruling immediately take effect, allowing the lower court to re-hear the case sooner.
“The Committees’ investigations are ongoing, remain urgent, and have been impeded by the lack of finality in these litigations,” Letter writes, noting the lawsuit has been ongoing since April 2019.
