NSW Police are continuing to conduct inquiries after they were called to a trial rugby match in Sydney's eastern suburbs over COVID-19 concerns.
"At no stage were there any more than 600 people in the ground, including volunteers, staff and players. A concerned local resident, who made the photos public but wished to remain anonymous, said the game seemed more like a"New Year's Eve party" than a rugby match. "Music blaring ... intoxicated patrons packed in shoulder to shoulder. It makes me despair. Are we all in this together? It seems not. I am ashamed of my community," the resident said.

Major recreation facilities must have a COVID-19 Safety Plan and are permitted to have up to 25% of normal capacity of the venue or 10,000 persons (whichever is lesser) when admission to the premises is by way of a ticket and each person has been assigned to a seating area
