Residents reported the big crowds to police amid concerns the spectators were not abiding by social distancing rules. Sydney is already on edge after a growing COVID-19 cluster at a Casula pub.

NSW Police are continuing to conduct inquiries after they were called to a trial rugby match in Sydney's eastern suburbs over COVID-19 concerns.

"At no stage were there any more than 600 people in the ground, including volunteers, staff and players. A concerned local resident, who made the photos public but wished to remain anonymous, said the game seemed more like a"New Year's Eve party" than a rugby match. "Music blaring ... intoxicated patrons packed in shoulder to shoulder. It makes me despair. Are we all in this together? It seems not. I am ashamed of my community," the resident said.

Physical distancing is not that

If you read the article, this was a COVIDsafe event that followed correct protocols. Police attended, no fines were issued

Major recreation facilities must have a COVID-19 Safety Plan and are permitted to have up to 25% of normal capacity of the venue or 10,000 persons (whichever is lesser) when admission to the premises is by way of a ticket and each person has been assigned to a seating area

They could get a job in East Germany.

Can you stop staying that we’re in this together? From day one of the pandemic people were snatching toilet paper from others. Now we have bickering state govts, quarantine dodgers, selfish people everywhere doing whatever they want. We’ve never been less together.

Nsw trying so hard for a lockdown

I’m sure they know some influential people that’ll make this disappear

Well, hopefully the rest of Australia stops looking down on us Melbournians because stupid is contagious everywhere 🙄

Second wave because GladysB and ScottMorrisonMP relaxed the restriction too early. It is a big mistake that we are not eliminating the virus. Australia is no longer lucky due to incapable politicians. auspoI

Get over this crap, why are the media in this country so hysterical and why are you acting like terrorists
