The former Minneapolis police officers charged in the death of George Floyd will likely seek to relocate their trials in hopes of finding sympathetic jurors, but legal experts said doing so could reinforce claims of systemic racism in the justice system.

Alexander Kueng poses in a combination of booking photographs from the Minnesota Department of Corrections and Hennepin County Jail in Minneapolis, Minnesota, U.S. Minnesota Department of Corrections and Hennepin County Sheriff's Office/Handout via REUTERS.

Chauvin is charged with second-degree murder, and the three other former officers, who are white, Black and Asian American, are charged with aiding Chauvin. In several high-profile, racially charged cases in the past juries were more lenient with defendants of the same race as the majority of jurors. Former football star O.J. Simpson, who is Black, was acquitted on double murder charges in 1995 by a downtown Los Angeles jury, comprised of nine Blacks, two whites, and one Hispanic person, after the case was moved from nearby Santa Monica, where the crime occurred and the population is majority white.

Lawyers for the other officers and the Minnesota attorney general who is prosecuting the case declined to comment or did not respond to a request for comment. Four white New York City police officers were charged in the 1999 death of Amadou Diallo, a Black man. The shooting touched off days of protests.

they would know more than a little about bias!!

No venue change will help. We ALL watched that horror happen in real time.

Of course! It’s a legal strategy to move to a more conservative/white racist part of town. I hope it’s denied!! KillerCops need to pay. Ps this man looks different than the one on video

Four american heros.

You shot him dead he can't where he is so why should you the world is against you it should never have happened so stop crying and take your punishment

Maybe Simi Valley?

- No -

they all look so nice.

Police officers apply what they learned in Police Academy.Their training is quasi-similar to the military. Police training needs MEGA REFORM to include : culture competency, curriculum with advanced psychology level, super knowledge of mental health condition of homeless,+ salary

absolutely not, no venue change.

They don’t all look white don’t tell me I got it wrong I thought white men where to blame

Bias, or simple righteous anger at a cold-blooded murder of an unarmed black civilian? Good luck with that.

This is reminiscent of the 4 officers who murdered Amadou Diallo.

Try them by a jury of peers....Minneapolis!

Bet they'd love to be moved to the 9th Circuit.

They can go anywhere they like, modern technology has shown the world their horrible actions. So good luck with that ploy.

The fucking irony. 😏

It’s *their* own bias that got them here in the first place! BlackLivesMatter

They did nothing wrong , release them NOW ! F... BlackLivesMatter

Bias against what, murder in day light?

They will have to seek venue change from Earth to Mars. The while world watch the entire murder of GeorgeFlyod. In Africa they will be likely lynched

Sure, go ahead. They’re guilty everywhere.

Gee--bias...ya think?

Right...as if that would help them. How ironic that they think of bias too... They killed a man. They should be punished.

Starting to sound a lot like the Rodney King case
