when deciding whether to allow mail-in voting during the coronavirus pandemic.
The court refused to block a decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit, which had ruled that all voters do not have to be allowed to vote by mail. Texas gives that option only to voters age 65 and older. The state's Democratic Party challenged that policy, warning that younger voters would"be forced to either risk contracting COVID-19 during in-person voting or relinquish their right to vote at all."State officials had countered that"there is no constitutional right to vote by mail. So long as a state has permitted voting through other means, which Texas has, the right to vote is not implicated.
The justices' decision will affect at least next month's primary runoff voting in the nation's second most populous state.urged the appeals court to"consider the merits of the legal issues in this case well in advance of the November election." Most states offered mail-in voting to all voters during recent primaries because of public health concerns. Only Texas and Mississippi refused to go along.
Very reckless. Don't care about people. AND does it look like Democrats need to cheat . We know where the cheating is and it's NOT Democrats.
Now the line has been drawn!
So...those under 65 vote at the ballot, catch the virus, and spread to older folks and those with immunocompromised issues. It's a death sentence to them and they should all vote the Republicans out for putting their lives at risk.
Guess I’ll be showing up in my mask and gloves to vote on Monday 😑
Irresponsible reporting. Please cite sources/references to this made up nonsense.
Voter suppression is the only chance Trump has left
More steps toward fascism.
Well this sucks. If I have to crawl over hot coals, I will vote against Trump and his croney friends at the ballot box.
Bet if the republicans did it, would have passed.
If they're denying them to everyone, they are treating them the same. The continued protests proved there is no need for mail in balloting
The choice of headlines get me every time. That is absolutely NOT what the court said or did.
The Texas statute was clear. Fear of a virus isn't covered and the lower courts agreed. This was a non-story, Cert was never going to be granted.
