PORT DICKSON: Nine youths including an Indonesian pleaded not guilty to a reckless and dangerous riding charge at the Magistrate's Court here.

The accused, who were detained during a police operation between 2am and 3.30am on Saturday , claimed trial after the charge was read to them before magistrate Siti Huzaifah Abd Talib.

Labourer Muhammad Alif Adnan, 24, lorry attendants Rizki, 24, an Indonesian, and M. Vinot, 21, lorry driver S. Darshan, 23, security guard Muhammad Fitri Nasruddin 19, college student B. Kavines, 18, plantation worker Tiow Ming Xuan, 17, and unemployed Muhammad Alif Mohd Nor, 21 and M. Michael Dass, 18, had been in remand since their arrest.

They were detained along Jalan Bypass here for racing, dangerous riding, violating traffic rules including beating the red light and making illegal U-turns along the Kampung Arab and Kampung Paya stretch. They were charged under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987 which carries a jail term of up to five years and a fine of between RM5,000 and RM15,000.

Siti Huzaifah then allowed the accused to be released on a bail of RM2,200 each and fixed July 27 for remention.
