KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court has dismissed Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's bid to remain a member of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), as well as its chairman, pending the disposal of his injunction application that will be heard on July 9.

The former prime minister and five other Bersatu leaders, whose memberships were terminated by the party, filed a suit in the High Court on June 9 to nullify the decision.

The other five members are Dr Mahathir's son Mukhriz Mahathir, former ministers Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman and Maszlee Malik, former deputy minister Amiruddin Hamzah, and Marzuki Yahya. They are contending the decision to terminate their membership, saying it was invalid as working secretary Muhammad Suhaimi Yahya had no powers to remove them.
