A man will face court over his alleged involvement in a fire that destroyed Liverpool Council Chambers, causing $27 million worth of damage, a decade ago.

Detectives charged the 29-year-old Liverpool man with aggravated break and enter and arson yesterday afternoon and released images of a second man seen in the area who they wanted to speak to.The extremity of threats and violence has jumped, according to frontline domestic violence workers. Hayley Foster from Women's Safety said there had been a renewed threat to women's safety as some attempted to leave violent situations.

As part of an ongoing investigation, detectives uncovered a romance scam, where a number of men were allegedly defrauded after connecting with a woman through online dating platforms.
