Millions of workers at small and mid-sized companies now have new protection against discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity

Monday’s Supreme Court ruling, which decided gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender workers are covered under Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, will have the most impact for millions of workers at small and midsize businesses, as well as large firms, who weren’t previously protected by state-level laws or formal employer policies, legal experts say.
