A demonstration is being held to in Montreal to mark the first anniversary of the passing of Quebec's controversial secularism law, known as Bill 21.

Those opposed to the legislation gathered in front of Premier Francois Legault's office in downtown Montreal today to denounce the law they associate with systemic discrimination.

The legislation -- which is the subject of several legal challenges -- bars some public-sector employees deemed to be in positions of authority from wearing religious symbols while at work such as turbans, kippas and hijabs.Organizers of the demonstration noted the anniversary comes in the midst of a pandemic creating an unprecedented health, social and economic crisis as well a major call to denounce the racism and violence within institutions.

They called on the Quebec government to move away from policies that divide and move to unite the population for the challenges to come. The Coalition Avenir Quebec government has previously defended the secularism law, saying it enjoys strong support among Quebecers and has described it as moderate. This report by The Canadian Press was first published June 14, 2020.A woman attends a demonstration against Law 21 outside Quebec Premier Francois Legault's office in Montreal, Sunday, June 14, 2020, on the one year anniversary of the controversial bill. CTV IS HATE MEDIA

The history of religion in the world teaches that it has been a dismal failure in bringing about lasting peace. Yeshua prophesied that this would be true.

Its not racism, if it happens in Quebec! Just as blackface is acceptable there! Don‘t believe me ask our Blackface PM!!

who want to see that musies picture, go home.

Quebec’s “systemic racism” on full display. MSM = “secularism law”.

This Racism is one of the reasons we had to leave Quebec in 1970. Our reason? Because we spoke ENGLISH. Somone at my Dad's work threatened the life of my 3 year old sister by posting a picture of her on his camera.

Bill 21 should be enacted at the federal level, from coast to coast

CTV is seeding hate ,please shutdown this channel payed by us tax payers

Why isn’t our PM taking a knee to protest this racism

That is systemic racism and all political parties including PM remained silent. Shows Trudeaus motivation is popularity and his political gain

Boom !!! Happy Birthday President Trump. Enjoy your day with Melania. Now go win that Trophy! TrumpMemeDay HappyBirthdayTrump
