LeBron James, along with a group of Black athletes and entertainers, are launching a new organization called More Than a Vote to protect voting rights for Black Americans

Amid the continuing protests against racist police brutality after the death of George Floyd, the media and entertainment industries have announced a variety of measures to try to address histories of discrimination against Black people. NBA teams have issued statements of solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement, but the players, as often, have done more.

“We’re going to give you the background of how to vote and what they’re trying to do, the other side, to stop you from voting.” James also said he would use his social media platform to highlight attempts at voter suppression.Skylar Diggins-Smith, Trae Young, Jalen Rose, Draymond Green, Udonis Haslem,are putting up the initial funding for the organization, which will work with voting rights organizations including When We All Vote and Fair Fight in order to protect the rights of Black voters.
