'We need systemic changes in our law enforcement departments.'

The New Jersey native announced on"GMA" that the star-studded April 22 event airing on ABC will benefit the New Jersey Pandemic Relief Fund to help those in the state affected by the coronavirus.Bruce Springsteen used his latest semi-weekly DJ stint on his own satellite radio channel Wednesday to offer some heartfelt commentary about the death of George Floyd.

After playing his song"American Skin ," which he wrote about the 1999 shooting death of an unarmed African immigrant named Amadou Diallo bypolice officers, Springsteen said,"Eight minutes. That song is almost eight minutes long. And that's how long it took George Floyd to die with a Minneapolis officer's knee buried into his neck."

He continued,"That's a long time. That's how long he begged for help and said he couldn't breathe. The arresting officer's response was nothing but silence and wait. Then he had no pulse and still it went on."The Boss then dedicated the song"to Seattle, to New York, to Miami, to Atlanta, to Chicago, to Dallas, to Philadelphia, to Washington, to Los Angeles, to Asbury Park, to Minneapolis and to the memory of George Floyd. May he rest in peace.

He went on to address the current financial, health, political and racial crises the country is experiencing. "As we speak, 40 million people are unemployed. One-hundred-thousand plus citizens have died from COVID-19, with only the most tepid and unfeeling response from our White House," he said, somberly."As of today, our black citizens continue to be killed unnecessarily by our police on the streets of America. And as of this broadcast, the country was on fire and in chaos.

Law enforcement has been working very hard to eliminate racial problems in all departments. Much progress has been made. If you can’t see that, then you are either pushing an agenda or willfully ignorant.

Yeah like people obeying and respecting the law. That's the only change needed.

Ideas?

He should feel bad: it was his white privilege which made it possible to become a famous artist. Black people are underrepresented in Music, especially popular music. Once we defund the police we should give every black person who wants one a record contract!

and remember the Black Lives Matter Movement started during Obama's administration.

Screw Bruce Springsteen

Usually when people try to establish a social problem (like systemic changes in our LE departments are needed), evidence, usually in the form of statistics and not anecdotes should be provided.

No what we need is for people to grow up and get morals.

So no police, and no 2A? Is that the Dems platform? When you guys start leaving blue states, don’t forget why.

The BOSS! :)

I cannot believe this one man that died at the hands of one cop is making the biggest international news. Is that sick or what? It was horrible and the cop will be charged but police brutality is down while crime, rapes, murders, home invasions continue, and cops killed too

Well played I do value celebrities opinions higher than yours Its the difference between negative and FUCKING ZERO, but still Every law abiding person needs to boycott any asshole who pushes out this virtue signalling crap until they learn to STAY IN THEIR FUCKING LANE!!!

No more arresting black people. It’s time for all white people to go back to Europe. EndWhiteSupremacy WhiteLivesDoNotMatter BlackLivesMatterDC June6th freedom SaturdayMorning

A phony d bag from the suburbs

Yeah buddy..... Bring on Springsteen.....not ZZ Top or anybody else that America likes instead...... 😀

New_Colossus_ Springsteen has a way of depoliticizing the extreme suffering of working families in a way that makes him non-theatening to the status quo.

One azzzhole cop abuses his power and allll this outpouring for SYSTEMIC CHANGE.. c'mon already.. 3 weeks ago zero talk from anyone about any of this, now, everyones got an opinion, gimme a break

How about some changes to our thug culture? How many times has Bruce responded to a 911 call to help someone?

......and nobody watched 😏

“Defund the police” is the primary change people have been advocating for. I say, do it. Let’s take the police out of communities that don’t want it, and keep them where they are wanted. Everyone wins.

To change police behavior do 3 things: no more implied immunity, discipline records should be public, pay police bonus money when they de-escalate a situation instead of using their service weapon.

Thank you! Finally no race card.

Stop kneeling, \\/\\/h|tey !

I'm with you, Bruce!!

planecrash in Georgia killing all five on board....
