Justice Nnamdi Dimgba, however, struck out the prayer requesting the President’s daughter, Hanan Buhari, and telecoms company, MTN, to pay N500m.Okolie, had sued the President’s daughter as well as the DSS and MTN over his 10-week detention after purchasing a SIM card previously owned by Hanan.
The suit, with number FHC/ASB/CS/3/2020, sought an order to “compel the respondents jointly or severally to pay the applicant the sum of N500, 000, 000 only as general and aggravated damages for the gross and unlawful violation of the applicant’s right to acquire moveable properties, freedom of movement and self dignity.”The 33-year-old man said in a supporting affidavit that he was arrested on July 19, 2019 in Asaba, Delta State for using a telephone line that was previously owned by Hanan.
Okolie also attached the receipt he was issued after purchasing the SIM card as well as the SIM certificate. The President’s daughter, through her lawyer, M.E Sheriff, asked the court not to grant Okolie’s reliefs, insisting that she had never met the applicant before and he should instead channel his anger towards the DSS that detained him.
This is a good victory.
Where are those stupid Buharist who couldn't see beyond their nose and defended what the DSS and Hanan did. It's unfortunate that we the masses are the ones that encourage their oppressors to continue in their unruly manner. God bless Justice Nnamdi Dimgba God Bless Nigeria.
10m is too small, with all the money her father loot, Charge her in billion
N10m is not enough for detaining that guy for more than two weeks.
It is Nigeria that lost at the end
Nice one!
shiklah_jr 10 weeks, 10 million 👌🏿
We can do better than this.
Has govt and its agencies ever obayed courts orders?
May all the Hanans in my catch fire by fire in Jesus name. Amen
Good news for democracy
👍👍
I'm not satisfied with this judgment the judge should have increased the fine to 100m or even more. Next time they would think twice before excessive misuse of power

At this juncture the man should be security concious..
10M that would, most likely never be paid. Or how is the guy going to follow up with DSS for payment? 😀

So buhari daughter no sabi about the arrest. So who con report the case? And who be DSS? Court need separate the organization from the person that gave the order to arrest the guy.
It’s a commendable judgement, especially when it’s against a governmental unit. Lets hope they heed to court’s ruling by doing the needful, without overriding the judgement as usual!
Did you guys think they will pay him, this is Nigeria abeg, na only judgment we hear, we no go hear wetin go Xup next, dem fit go rearrest am say the man na criminal, b4 we go hear again, dem don kill am, Only God can save
They don't want us to ever win! 10 mil instead of 500 mil. They admit wrong doing but don't want to pay up.
Fair enough and I hope it's those secret service that will pay not our tax payers money.
Why not ₦100million... DSS and Nigeria police force needs to be thought a lesson
I hope those lawless DSS will pay it sha
Buhari daughter that twig looking Kwashokor 🙄
Court ruling is another and obeying it by this lawless people is another thing all together.
Lesson learnt.
It's a good development, but the Nigerian Communications Commission ought to be part of this penalty, as the DSS & NCC are said to be in a collaboration. & the NCC are the ones that allows the network providers to reallocate people's SIM cards to others, which is very wrong.
Make den dss sha no go set the guy up. No trust them
Good very good. Our judiciary need to start redeeming their image because they have disappointed Nigerians so much.
What a great time to be alive
For those who has the ideology to leave things for God! This is a lesson to you all!
Solid judgement against overzealousness and 'eye service'.
We pray for more of this cos it rare to file a lawsuit against the government and gain a victory
Hmmmm this is impressive
Yesoooo please buy Gwagon
Make I buy Buhari sim self na. 😂😂😂
The rule of law shall prevail. The fundamental rights of the Nigerian people are non-negotiable and form the pivot of the citizens existence. We most welcome this judgement in the interest of justice. This is victory for the entire citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Correct! Nice one 👍
Could this be true? In this country? Hmmmmm
He deserves it.
