The 37-year-old man was arrested and interviewed earlier today at his home address in Donvale, in relation to the alleged armed hold-up which unfolded at Melbourne Gold Company on Collins Street on April 27 about 9.40am.He will appear at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court later today, charged with aggravated burglary, theft, perjury and firearms offences.linked to case, believed to be one of Victoria's largest ever armed robberies, was revealed by police yesterday.
Armed Crime Squad detectives released footage of a white Holden Commodore in Leongatha, South Gippsland on April 30, which was believed to be connected to the heist. Karl Kachami, 48, from Hawthorn East was earlier charged with armed robbery, theft, false imprisonment, armed with criminal intent, common law assault and two counts of non-prohibited person in possession of a handgun, over the alleged $3.9 million gold heist.
Significant quantities of gold bullion and cash, along with a loaded handgun and stolen numberplates were found buried at a property in Dollar, South Gippsland.
