A federal appeals court has ruled that California can continue to require background checks of ammunition buyers as a challenge to the voter-approved rule makes its way through the justice system.

In a preliminary ruling Thursday, San Diego-based U.S. District Judge Roger Benitez sided with plaintiffs, including the California Rifle and Pistol Association and six-time Olympic medalist skeet shooter Kim Rhode, who argued the checks violate the Second Amendment right to bear arms.

The appeals court, represented by Judges Mary H. Murguia and Mark J. Bennett, didn't address the arguments. The California Attorney General's office said in an email Saturday that"California's laws and regulations concerning ammunition transactions and background checks are in effect and will be enforced until further notice while the appellate court considers whether to stay the preliminary injunction for the duration of the appeal."

Those who claim lawful use of firearms are always those who fight legislation intended to prevent prohibited persons from buying guns/ammo. But then the willfully ignorant always claim gun control doesn't work. We need strong national gun control that is uniform in every state.

Bacerra and CA courts literally do nothing in a timely fashion but somehow manage to issue an emergency stay at 9pm Friday night. Benitez wrote 120 pages on why it was unconstitutional and 2 9th circuit judges overrule it in the blink of an eye

Specially for chipmunk assault weapons

Small victory!

I hope that the plaintiffs appeal this to scotus.

The justices on that appeals court need to read their oaths of office and the constitution or resign

Heh, california making jobs. Opportunity for the black market?

9th Circuit needs to be done away with.

There are 88,000 alcohol related deaths each year, but no one thinks that we should have restrictions on alcohol similar to those on guns. Why? I'm guessing that it is because most people believe that we have a right to buy/use alcohol. Am I right?

In all decency do the good old US of A deem it acceptable to run about with handguns, machine guns, rifles, tanks, fuckin anything else you freaks want to have. Don’t state some pish amendment, or why you need to kill more children, more police officers, just kill

This NEEDS to be done.

HORSE SHIT

The left coast dsserves every bit of whats coming.

What’s the country turning into .

Great just what they need psychos with guns

What's the benefit for the extra time and effort the state is forcing? Is it just to impair rights?

Only inept Liberals stay in California.

Do background checks

People are just going to go to Nevada and bring back millions of rounds.

Shit like this is why folks hoard ammunition, gunpowder, and reloading equipment.

Even if they have a permit to carry already? That’s like stupid they’ve already done that.
