Urgent cases relating to children caught up in parenting disputes will be rushed through the courts within 72 hours, as the Family Court and Federal Circuit Court report a rise in calls for help during the coronavirus crisis. There has been an almost 40 per cent increase in urgent applications to the Family Court
Cases set to be fast-tracked include disputes where there is an increased risk of family violence as a result of social restrictions put in place to curb the spread of COVID-19. Coronavirus restrictions have added to the complexity of some parenting orders around the country, which set out the terms in which shared custody or supervised contact with children are managed.
The courts may also have to step in when a parent or guardian, or the child themselves, have tested positive for coronavirus, and usual parenting orders cannot be followed.Paul Doolan, chair of the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia, said the announcement would be welcomed by his colleagues, who had seen a rise in the number of new clients seeking urgent advice, along with existing clients needing further support.
How long is this stupidity going to continue before the ignorant government realises it's really causing more harm than good to people by enforcing rubbish rules and deliberately causing economic terrorism under false pretenses of a slightly virulent common cold PLANdemic!
