In an official statement accusing the Voice of America of '[amplifying] Beijing's propaganda,' the White House attacked the news service for — among other things — tweeting a video of a light show against the Wuhan skyline.

that the news service is uncritically relaying Chinese propaganda about that country's effort to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.

The statement was released under the headline,"Voice of America spends your money to speak for authoritarian regimes." It attacked VOA for, among other things, a tweet showing. The show celebrated the end of the lockdown in that city, where the coronavirus first truly took flight. Voice of America Director Amanda Bennett never mentioned the Trump administration. Instead, Bennett - a former top editor at the, and Bloomberg News, among other well-regarded outlets - noted that the Voice of America's freedom to report all sides of an issue is enshrined in a 1976 federal statute signed by President Gerald R. Ford, who, like Trump, was a Republican.

Still using spellcheck at the house, I hope?!?

Loved VOA Director Amanda Bennett's response: 'VOA has thoroughly debunked much of the information coming from the Chinese government and government-controlled media.' I guess the tRump admin doesn't like debunking. They're afraid that VOA will debunk *their* propaganda next.

Irony is the Chinese language version of VOA engages in a kind of ecstatic demonization of China that would make the editors at the English side blush.

TheThingInTheWH does everything for Putin Just think how happy Vlad would be with the elimination of the Voice of a Freedom from the airwaves! “It” is giving Vlad our democracy on a platter, piece by piece

Didn’t Trump say the same thing about NPR?

but of course now Trump is attacking VOA Idiot

White House doesn’t want any truths from China while they start making the case for cancelling their debt to China 🙄

why is he president?

In WWII, administrators tried to squelch a VOA broadcast that quoted Gen. Stilwell: “The Japanese gave us a hell of a beating in Burma.” The staff prevailed and it was later learned from Japanese POWs that it was that quote that made them believe Voice of America.

Trump wants his own media.. VOA isn't biased enough.

WTF!?!

Remember article 2. He can do whatever he wants. From dodging the draft to openly admitting 20-60k american soil deaths is ok.

Well, the news coming out of Wuhan is such bull shit, the media ignores it, I am not sure they wrong for being critical.
