Judge Gustavo Amarilla told reporters that he had ordered the 'continuation of house arrest in a hotel for Ronaldinho and his brother.'

Retired Brazilian football player Ronaldinho arrives at a hotel in Asuncion where he and his brother will serve house arrest after a judge ordered their release from jail on April 7, 2020A judge in Paraguay has ordered the release of Brazilian football great Ronaldinho and his brother into house arrest at a hotel in downtown Asuncion.

They were jailed almost exactly a month ago to await trial on charges of using false passports to enter Paraguay. Lawyers for the men posted bail of $1.6 million. Paraguay's appeals court last month rejected a request to release the pair, who were housed in a cell block that also accommodated the former Paraguayan soccer federation chief and the ex-speaker of the lower house of parliament.

However, within hours the brothers were in police custody when investigators raided their hotel after discovering their passports were fake.
