"This was a serious crime, a dreadful crime. It required very stern punishment," Justice Phillip Priest said on Tuesday.Todd appeared by videolink from prison, where he is being held in protective custody. His lawyer Daniel Gurvich QC said he accepted the enormity of Todd's crimes warranted long sentences, but not as long as what he received.
He's argued there are eight mitigating factors that should have resulted in a shorter sentence, including the fact Todd was only 19 at the time of the killing. Todd has been diagnosed with a mild form of autism and has been in protective custody since his arrest, Mr Gurvich added. Mr Gurvich challenged Justice Beach's claim it would be speculation to say there might be some treatment developed in the future.
Not long enough ide say should be a life for alive in that case ide be sayin!
Sure it can be reduced when hers is!!!
Killing her wasn’t excessive?
Should be life!!!
Oh bloody didums ,I hope the judge extends the sentence to the maximum
Well clearly, he still hasn't learnt his lesson...
He raped and murdered a 23 yr old woman he didn’t know, targeting her because she walked through a park, and robbing her of her life. I hope he rots.
Quit while your ahead, the judge will give you a longer sentence, that's the community expectation.
Give him more
Double it, chunt!
Sentence not long enough
Life sentence too much ? What about her that got death sentence wasn't that too much ?
He should have no rights at all
Death sentence shd do the justice !
Haha what a joke, they should add more on just to spite him
Sorry death penalty for all murders time to wake up save our taxes from keeping scrum like him alive Australia auspol Melbourne Victoria
Excessive?! He murdered someone, forever took her life away and he is arguing that his 35 years sentence is excessive? 🤣🤣
What BS! This makes me so angry! This dog raped & murdered this poor young woman. What about her? She doesn’t get to come back! 2 say the judge didn’t consider his age, Past good behaviour & him being on the “spectrum “ is a steaming pile of 💩. Life should be life!
Only a parasite lawyer could say such a thing.
Sometimes it seems our justice system gives more rights to these perpetrators than the victims
What does Eurydice think?
At least his parents will still see him. Be able to talk to him. Eurydice's parent's can't with her. Do the crime, do the time.
OK Death penalty is a better option then...
She’s dead. He’s still alive. Sorry 35 years is fine. Particularly when he stalked her. Raped her. Then killed her.
He shouldn't have killed an innocent woman. Karma.
You piece of $&*% it is not ok to rape and murder women. I hope the appeal judges are brave enough and say enough is enough you now never walk free again. Enough is enough 💔
Only in the People’s Democratic Republic of Victoria
Too severe... buddy you murdered somebody! Your lucky it’s only 35 years!
Capital punishment for him
He's not appealing its his law firm who get paid by the tax payer who are. It's just a money making exercise for them.
This makes me sick
He should've thought of it before committing the murder. No turning back now.
After what he did 35 is a light sentence. Should be term of his natural life
Hopefully the appeal judges will increase his sentence👍👍👍🙏
No its not
