Man charged over deaths of young footballer and mum and son in horror Louth crash

A man is to appear in court charged in connection with the deaths of three people in a horror car crash in Co Louth.Three people from Newry, Co Down, were killed in the collision in Dundalk in the early hours of Saturday.

The two occupants of one of the cars – mother and son Mary and Kevin Faxton, who were in their 80s and 50s – were pronounced dead at the scene on the N1.Independent Newry councillor Gavin Malone told the Irish Sunday Mirror: “I knew Bryan really well.All three deceased have since been removed to the mortuary at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, where postmortems are expected to take place today.The crash site and cars involved were examined by forensic collision investigators.

The collision occurred at 11.15am on the N54 between Monaghan and Clones in the townland of Bandrum, near Monaghan town. Gardai attended the scene and the man was taken to Tallaght University Hospital where he died a short time later. Sinn Fein councillor Sean Conlon said there have been a number of fatalities and accidents along that stretch of road.Cllr Conlan added: “Here we have again another fatality on this road. These roadworks need to be initiated at the earliest opportunity to prevent further tragedies.Meanwhile, on Friday, a man and woman in their 60s died in another road crash involving a car and a jeep on the N55 in Ballinagh, Co Cavan, at around 7pm.They were both pronounced dead at the scene.
