A female prison officer was attacked and dragged across the floor by two teenage inmates trying to use her swipe card to escape

The male inmates distracted a male officer in the Intensive Supervision Unit by asking him for cornflakes before attempting to grab the female guard's lanyard at about 4pm on Friday, according to a source with knowledge of the incident. They allegedly dragged the woman to the door with the swipe card still around her neck until the Security and Emergency Response Team ended the escape plan.

The two inmates were the only occupants of the ISA at the time of incident and it is believed one was scheduled to be moved on Friday. In October last year, guards at the facility, north of Kyneton, walked off the job amid safety concerns following consecutive attacks that left colleagues with broken noses, cuts and bruises.A statement from the Community and Public Sector Union on Friday evening said Malmsbury staff were complaining that the job and pay were not worth the physical risk.

Has she been charged with obstruction of their escape?

Males targetting a female officer. Another check mark against their character profile. Moreover who is authorising sending female guards in solo to interact with multiple male prison inmates? What crimes are they in for? What results do they expect?

The sad thing is, if this goes to court they'll be let off and no conviction recorded.

Thanks Dan....Victoria the criminal state!

MelodyM05174377 The usual suspects no doubt!!!!

Australia's justice system is far too easy on crime and criminals and far too strict with victims of crime.

... The word 'mates' should be dropped from the term inmates. Amazing The Age didn't use that term 'Teenage thugs'

I would have thought Only having one security guard for any prisoner would be a high risk. Why was she on her own!

Bring back the cat o 9 that’ll sort them out!!

I've seen jobs advertised here that pay only $52k. Being under that sort of pressure and threat of violence on a daily basis for that?

Jonatho43827873 BASTARDS

Why didn’t she just ... you know ... beat them off? Oh ... that’s right.
