Photo by Daniels IgoniThere was calm in Bayelsa State on Wednesday after the Supreme Court dismissed the application of the All Progressives Congress asking it to review its February 13 judgment which sacked the party’s governorship candidate, David Lyon and his deputy, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo.
There was no jubilation by the supporters and members of the Peoples Democratic Party, who had taken to the streets and the Government House to celebrate the victory of their party on February 13, 2020, when the apex court sacked the APC.monitored the developments on Wednesday and observed that residents were going about their usual activities.
Also, supporters and chieftains of the APC in the state were yet to react to the apex court’s decision, dismissing the review exercise.A chieftain of the APC who was contacted by our correspondent declined to make any comments while the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Doifie Buokoribo, did not respond to calls placed to his mobile phone.said it was obvious from the onset that the APC’s move to seek review of the judgment “will come to naught”.
Makbere, who hailed the Supreme Court for dismissing the APC’s application said, “It was a pre-election matter that should not have allowed him to contest. He ought not to contest. “But because the APC controls the Federal Government and the Independent National Electoral Commission is fragile, they got into the race.”
Bayelsa state has always been a calm place
Of course there will be calm.over there in Bayelsa because APC never won the elections in the first place
