RCMP officers there have been arresting people for breaching a court injunction related to opposition to the 670-kilometre Coastal GasLink pipeline

Ontario commuters scrambled to make last-minute changes to their travel plans on Sunday as protesters continued their blockade of two crucial VIA Rail routes, part of a demonstration against a natural gas pipeline being built more than 4,000 kilometres away.

The blockade in Tyendinaga Mohawk territory took over the tracks Thursday night in solidarity with demonstrators in northwest B.C., where Indigenous people and supporters are protesting the construction of a pipeline that crosses Wet’suwet’en territory. The Ontario protest, which began Thursday, is based where a road intersects with rail tracks about 20 kilometres east of Belleville and 60 kilometres west of Kingston.

“I tried to go see my boyfriend who I haven’t seen in over a month,” said one Twitter user. “I heard stories while getting my refund at Union of a woman missing a wedding, a family missing a funeral …”On Saturday, more protesters in Toronto disrupted Canadian Pacific Railway traffic downtown and momentarily blocked GO Transit trains on the Barrie line.

By Friday, the vehicles were not on the tracks but had been pulled back to the tracks’ edge. There was a report of a sofa being on the tracks Friday morning.

Most protestors are not our First Nations people but payed anti- business socialist groups like extinction rebellion who’s purpose is to destroy democracy.

It is unlawful to create a blockade. They should immediately be arrested. One law for regular Canadians and another for indigenous groups?

But your hand outs do

We need realDonaldTrump as our CanadianPM . He wouldn't put up with this bullshit.

Put them in jail. If they weren’t Indigenous we wouldn’t stand for it. It’s time to be Canadian.

It comes down to the cops being very scared and not brave enough to enforce the law.

Of course they do.

Wth!!! Get those ppl off the tracks!?

Call your MP and demand the RCMP stand down. WetsuwetenStrong

Unfortunately 4 those that have had absolutely nothing 2 do with the issues that are the source of the blokecade and have contributed towards the billions given to the same have to suffer the consequences of their actions and sadly no one has the balls to do anything about it

Put them in jail, enough

Someone with guts to stand up for Canadian energy and jobs! If anyone gets it, it's the Indigenous people! 👍 to you for standing up.and being counted! Stay there until Trudeau stands for Canadian energy and jobs! We salute you !!

So why aren't they arrested?

Indigenous supporters are the best to handle this. Where are they?

Are these blockades really indigenous? An indigenous chief has already denounced these so-called protestors. It is time for the police to become proactive for a change, and remove them so people can get on with their lives.

A minority is terrorizing the general population. Somehow we’re going to have to work this out peacefully. I don’t want to see any bloodshed but this mess must be resolved by tomorrow the latest.

Police caused this by not taking action.

In my mind these are mostly paid protesters and if u asked them what their protesting they couldn’t answer you.

People with no jobs impeding the economic progression of others. 🤨

Blame JustinTrudeau and the liberal_party. They implement the UN declaration of rights of indigenous peoples, but don’t follow it. Hopefully with a little blockade in Ontario and Quebec instead of just the west it might bring more attention to the failure of this government

Why are you doing this. Shirley Wilson and Philip Tait from the Wet'suwet'en Nation said that they are supporting the CoastalGasLink project.

Try eco terrorist block rail line!

So tired of the Indigenous BS. No doubt, it’s a few bad apples making everyone look bad. Arrest them and if convicted they should be ineligible for government cheques. And to be fair extend that to all Canadians. No more tax payers money to any convicted criminals.

the 'RCMP' should have positively IDed ALL 'foreign nationals' involved in this charade and branded them as eco-terrorists with permanent suspensions from entering the country ever again

I use to sympathize for their ancestors, they lived honestly off the land and took pride. This gen, want everything for nothing. What they do contribute is their lack of ambition to do something productive with their lives. Get off the road and get a job!
