Switzerland votes for law against homophobia

GENEVA, Switzerland – Switzerland on Sunday, February 9, voted strongly in favor of a new law against homophobia in a referendum, against opposition from the populist rightwing Swiss People's Party .

"It gives a signal which is magnificent for everyone and for anyone who has been a victim of discrimination," he said. Hans Moser, head of the small Federal Democratic Union of Switzerland party, told the ATS news agency:"We will continue to represent Christian values." Under the new law, homophobic comments made in a family setting or among friends would not be criminalized.

Discrimination against anyone should be banned. Many gays are discriminatory against people who disagree with them, mostly Christians, and judge their lifestyles as immoral.
