"We don't even know if jokes about gays will be allowed," Benjamin Fischer of the right-wing Swiss People's Party told Swiss television.
There is opposition too from some religious groups. Although Switzerland's reformed church has backed the new law, the Swiss Evangelical Alliance, which has significant support in rural areas, is sceptical."Our churches see the marriage of a man and a woman as the only couple they want to marry," explains the general secretary of the alliance, Marc Jost.
Same-sex partnerships are already legal in Switzerland, and a bill to legalise same-sex marriage is on its way through parliament. Marc Jost is not comfortable with these developments, despite family circumstances that might have encouraged him towards a different point of view.Marc Jost does not agree with same-sex marriage even though his father Samuel is gay
This is the point, says campaigner Jessica Zuber, where the argument over freedom of expression goes too far.'I can finally marry the love of my life' - Robyn and Sharni will be the first same-sex couple married in NI
Shocking that Religion beat sexual orientation to being protected by law. Nobody chooses their skin colour or sexual orientation..
From my point of view I don't discriminate between anyone, I treat everyone with equal disdain
What a waste of everybody’s time and money... 😴
They dont want equality they want special rights, These 'special groups' as bad as the freemason cartel
There's a sensible balance to be struck and we're moving beyond this ⚖
Discrimination by sexual orientation should be illegal, but not gender identity. Gender identity can't be measured or even proven and is just in many cases a construct of the person .
that's all that lot have to talk about-the sit on the fence gang

Another country votes for restrictions in freedom of speech.
While sexual orientation may be a valid argument, sexual identity is nonsense. There are two biological genders, and you are either one or the other. You can’t change that just because you ‘identify’ as something else, and you are not ‘assigned’ a gender at birth.
Seems to me if you want the right to discriminate against LGBT people they should also have the right to discriminate against you... Imagine the fuss if an LGBT person refused to provide services to religionists!
So... Does this law include heterosexual people being discriminated against by gay people too? They could be punished by law too?
