The local government of Capas, Tarlac will seek help from the court on Monday in a bid to stop the Department of Health (DOH) from accepting more Filipino repatriates from virus-hit Wuhan, China, who will return to the country to undergo a two-week quarantine at the Athletes’ Village in New Clark City.

Vice Mayor Roseller Rodriguez said Saturday morning that their lawyers will work on the issue to convince the court to issue a temporary restraining order against the health department’s plan.

“Umaapela po kami sa Pangulo at sa DOH secretary na kung pwede po ay i-reconsider, maghanap ng ibang site [We are appealing to the President and the DOH secretary, if possible, to reconsider their decision and look for another site],” he added. “And then across the road, resettlement site po ‘yun na may population na 30,000. Mga evacuees po ng Mt. Pinatubo [Across the road is the resettlement site of Mt. Pinatubo evacuees, with a population of 30,000],” he added, referring to the resettlement site that is now named Barangay Cristo Rey.

But Rodriguez also expressed concern over flies after he was told that these could carry viruses to nearby communities.

Madamot kayo!!!

Local govt vs DOH&BCDA 😀😃

The courts cannot impede an act of gov’t deemed necessary under conditions of a public health emergency. These LGUs should be given a resounding whack on the head. 😡
