LONDON - Nike has launched a new running shoe that complies with limits set by World Athletics after the governing body imposed a landmark ban on a version of the sportswear giant’s Vaporfly shoes that was used to run the first sub-two hour marathon.
New rules state road shoes must have soles no thicker than 40mm and not contain more than one rigid, embedded carbon fibre plate, and limit the use of some track spikes on the Vaporfly models, but permit the continued use of most of the range. The Vaporfly controversy has ignited a wider sporting debate: where should the line be drawn between advances in sports technology and equipment giving competitors an unfair advantage, be it running shoes, soccer boots or tennis rackets?

Those who think it gives unfair advantage need to produce empirical data. They should shut thier beaks and know this is nlt 1910 and there is no slave trade. A Kenyan ran and broke a record. Let them wear it and beat that 1:59 Number for track kings
How can they do that to runners when there has been so much advancement in other sports like tennis for example, they are some pretty fancy rackets these days.
Why not just give all runners the same shoes so they won't have issues with the use of running shoes they run with? 🤔

I love the argument that it’s the shoes that made the athletes run faster. The athletes run dumb fast because of their physical capabilities aka talent. How about the athletes who ran nearly as fast. The shoes they wore are not in question?!
