Senate Democrats on the fence about whether to vote for acquittal of President Trump include Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona

The Senate is expected to acquit President Trump on charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress on Wednesday, bringing to a close the third presidential impeachment trial in U.S. history and one that began with virtually no chance of conviction in the Republican-controlled chamber.

The vote later in the day will conclude a turbulent inquiry upended late last month by new revelations from former national security adviser John Bolton about the Republican president’s pressure campaign on Ukraine.

Trump impeachment acquittal on track ahead of Senate votePresident Donald Trump is on the verge of acquittal by the Senate, bringing an end to only the third presidential impeachment trial in American history in a vote at the start of the tumultuous campaign for the White House. A majority of senators have now expressed unease with Trump&39;s pressure What the hell is wrong with those politicians that are supporting him? I don't know how anyone can possibly respect somebody who stands up like he did today and basically stand there boasting about how wonderful he is. God, what is wrong with the people who voted for him Well, it certainly is on track considering that the Traitor (er, Republican) Party leadership announced weeks ago that the Criminal-in-Chief would be acquitted. No evidence, no witnesses, guaranteed acquittal. Typical 'trial' of an authoritarian dictator.

Susan Collins said President Trump’s efforts to press Ukraine to investigate a Democratic presidential candidate were ‘improper and demonstrated poor judgment’ but didn’t warrant removing him from office. This is the collapse of the entire Republican party. It's Watergate, but instead of standing up to the President, they gave their consent, and history will remember. A fine concession now that your vote isn’t needed
