Republican Sen. Lamar Alexander says he will not seek new witnesses in Trump’s impeachment trial as key vote looms

WASHINGTON – Two pivotal Senate Republicans – Susan Collins of Maine and Mitt Romney of Utah – announced Thursday they would vote to subpoena witnesses in the, but it remained unclear whether there were enough votes for additional testimony.

“I am going to go reflect on what I have heard, re-read my notes and decide whether I need to hear more," she said. Collins said she would support witnesses and said that if they are approved, House managers and Trump's defense team should agree on a limited number for each side. The Senate could then vote on the precise number, she said.

Patrick Philbin, a deputy White House counsel, warned that agreeing to call additional witnesses would establish new standards for impeachment, if the House can send"half-baked" cases and leave the Senate to complete the investigation. Philbin also said Bolton hadn't confirmed the newspaper report. House managers led by Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., said the trial wouldn't be fair without compelling witnesses who refused to testify during the impeachment inquiry, including Bolton and acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney.

Simople question will any witness requested state the transcript of the call is a lie? if not the transcript shows the House are liars as to the evidence and a need for more of it. Brady

Disgraceful Romney doesn’t represent his constituents... only himself. He used his constituents as a tool to inflict as much damage to Trump as possible. Who can blame him, after all he is a Morman. Anybody remember Mountain Meadows Massacare? Google it.

lol, for each witness you bring up, another witness with opposite views will be found, it's an exercise in futility
