The chairman of the Senate Ways and Means Committee welcomed President Rodrigo Duterte's signing of the sin tax reform law.

In a statement released Wednesday, Senator Pia Cayetano said,"The enactment of this measure is a manifestation of the administration's full commitment to its mandate of protecting public health and welfare.on final reading in December, with 20 senators voting in the affirmative. There was no opposition to the proposed measure.In her statement, Cayetano said she believed the approval of the bill would deter Filipinos from taking up"dangerous vices.

"Moreover, the revenues to be collected from this measure will go a long way in ensuring our people's access to free and quality health care services," she said.
