The regional electricity supplier wanted to replace Denham's old diesel generators with renewable energy as part of its goal to provide no new diesel power from 2025.
But there was still caution in the town of about 750 people, which swells to more than 2,000 in the peak tourist season during the July school holidays, seeing power demand skyrocket. "You still need to have diesel generation in the background for when a cloud goes over or the wind drops, so you've still got that issue," Mr Anderson said.Business analyst Peter Strachan warned hydrogen technology was in its infancy and any widespread rollout was decades away.
Mr Strachan said producing hydrogen using electricity from a coal-fired power station used more energy than was actually created from the hydrogen itself."It's a very light element and it can be stored and compressed slightly, but unlike natural gas it's not easy to compress and store for any period of time," Mr Strachan said.
"Even the optimists are talking about this as something for the next 10 or 20 years. It's not going to happen at scale at any time in the next decade."
And I picked today to start smoking😞 All fine until the Hindenburg moment.....
‘..prepares to trial a hydrogen plant powered by solar energy.’ How about we cut out the middleman
So they should. Miles from anywhere.
Bio diesel. Rapeseed oil, sunflower oil, and palm oil are major feedstocks for biodiesel produced. Palm oil - forest cut down to produce palm oil. So much environment.
So much for zero emissions when mining is used to provide hydrogen 😀😀😂😂😂😂😂
Hydrogen is primarily produced by steam reforming of natural gas. Other major sources include naphtha or oil reforming of refinery or other industrial off-gases, partial oxidation of coal and other hydrocarbons, and steam cracking natural gas liquids. It’s mining 😱😱😱😱😱😱
Power 100 homes only by the power of ☀️. What happen on no sun days or weeks ?
At least they are having a crack. The whole country should be run on Hydrogen, Solar and Wind Power...
FatherBob That’s tremendous. It just needs the will to do something. The bush fires have provided an impetus (for some) and I hope this works and can produce a model for others to follow.
Australia was a zero-emission community prior to 1788. It was also zero-civilisation.
More bullshit from our ABC funded by tax payers
but water vapour is also greenhouse gas.
How do they drive cars? Have a BBQ? Run a gas heater or oven? Stop cows farting? Capture their breath? Have a CO2 fire extinguisher? Run a soda stream? Put bubbles in their sparkling wine? Drink lemonade? Have they removed all use of concrete? Zero emissions = death.
Like the ocean waves?
