WASHINGTON: The US House of Representatives will transmit articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump to the Senate on Wednesday , setting the stage for the US leader's trial for abuse of power, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced.

But both parties were girding for a tense two weeks or more of hearings that could bare the US leader's alleged wrongdoing to the American public on live television. Democrat leader Nancy Pelosi is expected to forward impeachment charges against President Donald Trump to the Senate, launching his historic trial for abuse of power.
