Sabio formally revealed his decision to abandon the complaint as ICC Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda disclosed that her preliminary investigation of the case is about to be concluded.
Lawyer Larry Gadon, a staunch critic of the political opposition, accompanied Sabio to Campanilla. He gave media photographs showing Sabio signing the document and shared in a “viber” thread portions of the 28-page affidavit-letter. “I fervently request that it be expunged or erased from the record, and that it should not be used in any way in the ongoing preliminary examination,” said Sabio, 51, who had previously confessed fearing for his life and that of his client, Matobato.
The Duterte administration has been consistent at ignoring the ICC probe, with the President himself threatening to have Bensouda arrested if she sets foot in the Philippines.
If he was lying then, how do we know that he's not lying now? More importantly, if he's not lying now, Sabio should be castigated for wasting the ICC's time, effort & funds at the very least. The RRD_Davao administration must legally pursue Sabio for any violation of the law.
