.MaddowBlog: Senate Majority Leader McConnell lacks the votes for Pres. Trump’s preferred impeachment plan.

As Donald Trump’s impeachment process moves toward the trial phase, there are a couple of provocative plans the president and his team have endorsed for the Senate proceedings. The first is something called a “motion to dismiss.”

Senate Republicans indicated on Monday that they would not seek to summarily dismiss the impeachment charges against President Trump, proceeding instead to a trial with arguments and the possibility of calling witnesses that could begin as soon as Wednesday. […] All of which suggests that there will, in fact, be a Senate impeachment trial. Once it gets underway, the president has also made clear that he doesn’t want the chamber to hear from witnesses . Is there a chance he’ll get his wish on this front? The White House is preparing for some Republican senators to join Democrats in voting to call witnesses in President Trump’s impeachment trial, which could get underway in the coming days.

But McConnell doesn’t appear to have the votes to make that happen, either, which opens the door to likely testimony from, among others, former White House National Security Adviser John Bolton.

Moscow Mitch wouldn't allow the replacement of SCOTUS judge when there was only 11 months left in Obama's term. Why won't he block an impeachment trial when there is less than 10 months left to an election in which T-RUmp will be a candidate? When the HELL did we expect nothing less by the GOP Theses worthless criminals would betray their own flesh & blood....4 MONEY!!! Time we recognized it and made changes for the sake of our families....we owe it stand for reality Decision based on fact they have no defence & that trump wants to scream exoneration which only the uneducated & ignorant will believe. He's 'Not afraid' because he realizes that ~40% of the electorate are using him as a tool to push their agenda and will continue to ignore how blatantly corrupt and inept he is to ensure their agenda gets accomplished. Who? We have a deputy press secretary? How much do we pay him Jesus H Christ. 😂😂😂Ler’s see. Watch the feet, not the mouth - or in this case, fingers. ImpeachedForLife ImpeachmentTrial
