Senators began the week focusing on 'ordinary business,' as lawmakers failed to break an impasse over President Trump's impeachment trial rules

WASHINGTON - U.S. President Donald Trump’s former national security adviser, John Bolton, said on Monday he is willing to testify in the expected Senate impeachment trial of the president, a surprise development that could complicate a weeks-long dispute over how the trial would play out.

House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi - the top Democrat in Congress - has yet to send the House-approved articles of impeachment to the Senate, putting a hold on any schedule for a trial. The Democratic-led House has charged Trump with abusing his power for personal gain by asking Ukraine to announce a corruption investigation of former Vice President Joe Biden, a leading contender for the Democratic nomination to face Trump in November’s presidential election.

Bolton’s lawyer said during the investigation that Bolton had information about meetings and discussions that had not yet been made public. McConnell, who Pelosi accuses of working to protect the president, said on Friday a trial cannot begin until the charges are formally sent to the chamber.

FakeNewsMedia alert! Despite having no direct knowledge of anything, I am also willing to testify at Impeachment hearings. John Bolton and I have an equal probability of being called to testify by the Senate. So how is this newsworthy?

We’re being setup. Trump, McConnell, Pompeo, Pence, etc. want him to testify and he will - in their favor. Beware!

McConnell will never let it happen.

He could have with the house too. It is called the Supreme Court. Do they still teach civics?

D.Trump will order him to shut it up like what he asked him to do during congress hearing.

Bolton got his war. Now he will go lie for the president.

At this point no one gives a rat's ass what this man has to say. His offer to testify is about ginning up book sales. He had his opportunity to testify before the House and played games. Not a patriot.

And what does this mean? Nothing!!! It won't happen!

American ppl saying to Mr.Bolton u don’t need a be subpoena in order to testify on behalf of ur Country, all Americans need from u Mr. Bolton just d truth, n don’t be a KKKTrump puppet!

It won’t happen.

I think Trump may target this fella soon

Knowing the Republicans in the Senate won't call him, he now says he'll testify. All Republicans are spineless.

The house should have subpoenaed him... you blew it SpeakerPelosi

If he testifies , and vouches for the contents of his book under oath , sales will skyrocket . Wonder if anyone else has figured this out ? Only answer is republicans had better make damn sure he does not testify .

WITCH HUNT THEY KNOW IT

Its Awe Pish

What about Hunter and Joe?

好玩了 报应

This is prolly his way of telling Trump he could turn on him for not starting the war with Iran quick enough for Bolton and Bibi. Ya just never know. warmongergonmonger

He is literally pooping in his pants, Iran declared 'We want Trump, Pompeo & Bolton'

Perhaps he REALLY wants to talk. But do Republicans really want to listen?

fake bravado. true cowardice. forget this chump.

He didn’t resist, so Fake News. (You made me say it.)

He supports Trump

He should have done so before when he said a judge would have to make him. Jerk

Wonder what he’d do if the House decided to subpoena him now.

How convenient.

If Trump were innocent he would not stop witness testimony and documents. Call Republican senators and demand a full trial or vote them ALL out. Call McConnell 202-224-2541; Sen. McSally -2235; Collins -2523; Ernst -3254; Perdue -3521; Gardner -5941; Tillis -6342; Cornyn -2934

Who cares...go away and shave that mustache..this is a yawner!

Your spin is amazing 😆

Bolton you're a has been. Get back in your rockin' chair you wimp!!!

If Bolton testifies before the Senate, it wil be the death knell for Trump's presidency. Bolton has a lot more dirt on POTUS than meets the eye, & it will all come out in the wash, if & when he testifies. Potus is on 📌 & needles The man he trashed may come back to haunt him

Like I said the evil loves to utilize the escape goat

Trump has a long list of enemies. Bring it on!

The one thing about Bolton that seems consistent is he about American hegemony. He puts his vision of America over party. Whether you agree with his vision is another story. To assume he is Trump Republican, I think, is incorrect. Some commenters make this assumption.

Americans deserve to hear what he has to say senatemajldr LindseyGrahamSC Signed, Independent Voter

Another american coward! JohnBoltonQuote

Bolton is only say this because MoscowMitch has made it clear, no witnesses are required for the Senate Trial. The GOP are a bunch of crooks like Trump (IMPOTUS). If Trump has nothing to hide, he should demand witnesses in the Senate trial.

Oh, he'll deign to follow the law in this one instance? Start up the marching band!

Only..he knows the Senate won’t subpoena him. So - worthless ‘gesture’. So kind of him to put country before party. 😡

Remember that day everyone thought Bolton was going to testify. That was funny.

Oh the patriotism! The courage! The arrogance!

then he can testify to the house.

Obstructing Congress is 'ordinary business' for MoscowMitch. HUNDREDS of House-referred bills are the proof.

The “impasse” is that Pelosi doesn’t think the Clinton impeachment rules her party created would remove the president from office (which is why they used them) and wants her party to control the senate as the minority. Boo hoo.

that's because McConnell is or thinks he is like Trump above the law or is afraid of what we the American people will hear and find out (the truth) time to change speaker of the house (that is Senate) for a person who does not table votes

Shocking those that showed up getting both done and the others campaigning not doing their jobs.

Senate COVER UP
