LONDON — The House of Commons voted in favor of Boris Johnson’s amended Brexit bill, bringing the U.K. one step closer to leaving the EU by January 31.
“This is the time when we move on and discard the old labels of Leave and Remain. In fact, the very words seem tired to me — as defunct as Big-enders and Little-enders, or Montagues and Capulets at the end of the play [references to"Gulliver's Travels" and"Romeo and Juliet"]." Only ministers will now be able to act as U.K. co-chair of the Joint Committee that will oversee the implementation of the Brexit deal. Under the previous versions of the bill, senior government officials were entitled to play such a role.
As expected, the bill outlaws extending the Brexit transition period beyond the end of 2020, although Johnson would be able to pass further legislation extending the transition if he wished so.
Go Trump
...sad though this is, tragic even, it should be hilarious to actually watch....what happens...in the aftermath....of jumping eyes wide open into the abyss.....
The important thing is that Putin will be happy.
The lefties have no say now.
I wish the European Union would exit itself.
Good for them, People are getting hip. Politico people have your number
Labor backfired. They could support the previous bill and get more what they want. Instead they had to live what it is now without any saying on it
Anthorer BRIT STUK UP OUR ARSE
I really hope they can finally finish BREXIT, so that Britain can finally move on. The EU was a terrible idea from before it was even implemented, but somehow they conned everyoe into buying into it. Hooray for Britain exiting it asap.
Did he release the report on Russia he was promising?
