Image: Niall Carson/PA Images THE COURT OF Appeal of Northern Ireland will today hear the case of a Derry woman who was ruled to be a British citizen, despite her identifying as Irish since being born in Northern Ireland.
The judge in that tribunal argued that the Good Friday Agreement “supersedes” British domestic law: “Nationality cannot therefore be imposed upon them at birth.” This ruling could mean that the UK views “identify” in an unofficial capacity – meaning you can identify personally, but officially and legally, citizens in Northern Ireland are British.

EmmandJDeSouza so are those born in France under German occupation during WWII automatically German citizens? Not saying it's an exact comparison but that seems to be the 'born British' argument...
At the rate at which Irish naturalisation certificates are being thrown around like snuff at a proverbial wake, would it not make more sense to throw some Nth to our own historically diasporised?
